Knocksense Shorts | Braille maps and signs to enhance accessibility in Indore

In a bid to enhance accessibility for the visually impaired, Braille maps and signs were recently introduced at the local railway station and selected shopping malls in Indore. Young Indians, a group of young industrialists associated with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), spearheaded the initiative.

Naina Navalani, chairperson of Young Indians' Indore unit, highlighted the prior installation of Braille maps at Khajrana Ganesh temple and Vaishnav Dham temple, along with Braille menu cards at 14 restaurants. The campaign aims to make public spaces inclusive, with Kashmira Ansari, a visually impaired student, expressing gratitude for the initiative and emphasizing the need for Braille inscriptions on lift buttons in multi-storey buildings.
