Through a network of 24 National Career Service Centres for Differently Abled (NCSC-DAS) across the country, the Directorate General of Employment (DGE), Union Ministry of Labour and Employment, has started an initiative to provide a stipend to the Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) getting vocational training.

In a letter addressed to higher educational institutions (HEIs), the All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE) said, “DGE is providing a stipend of ₹2500 per month per trainee for a maximum duration of 12 months to PwDs.”

The Labour and Employment Ministry intends to increase the stipend rate paid to persons with disabilities and has asked to prepare a comparative statement of stipends being paid for further consideration. The HEIs have also been instructed to spread awareness among the faculty, students, and other staff members so that they can benefit from the scheme.
