The much awaited Metro rail project inched closer to realization as the Metro rail consignment arrived Indore on Wednesday night. On Thursday morning, after completing necessary rituals and procedures, the train was placed on the tracks at the Gandhi Nagar Depot. The first three-coach train for the Indore Metro set off from Alstom’s Savli, Vadodara, Gujarat unit on August 23 and is now in Indore. A similar three-coach train is scheduled to arrive in Bhopal by September 15.

Each compartment of a three-coach Metro train measures approximately 2.9 meters in width, 22 meters in length, and 5 meters in height. Upon arrival at the Gandhi Nagar Depot, the train was unloaded using a "4-Point Jack." Prior to this, a successful "Mock-Trial of Trailer for Movement" had been conducted, which rigorously tested various factors such as road width, train weight, road bends, and other crucial aspects.

Manish Singh, the Managing Director of MPMRCL, is actively monitoring progress to ensure the successful Metro trial run scheduled for September.
