This monsoon season is heralding the return of the Patalpani-Kalakund Heritage Train, meandering through the breathtaking Vindhya Valley in Indore. From July 20, this Western Railway train has resumed its journey, and will be available on Saturdays and Sundays.

After a two-year hiatus due to track construction, the train now runs on a newly completed broad-gauge route, restoring the charm of its colonial-era design. So get ready for this historic ride, offering a unique opportunity to experience the stunning vistas of Madhya Pradesh.

Heritage Train’s scenic journey resumes after two years

The train, known for its picturesque route through the Vindhya Hills, will depart from Patalpani at 11:05 AM, reaching Kalakund at 1:05 PM. On its return, it will leave Kalakund at 3:34 PM and return to Patalpani by 4:30 PM. The fare is ₹265 for the AC Chair Car and ₹20 for the non-AC option.

This heritage train, which runs on a recently completed broad-gauge track, offers passengers stunning views of the Patalpani Waterfall, Purana Bridge, Char Bogde, and Kekariya Village. The trial run confirmed the train’s readiness, and it has since been warmly received by the public. The train now operates on a route that was once served by a meter gauge train. Additionally, recent renovations at Kalakund Station have further improved the overall travel experience.

This Heritage Train’s revival is expected to boost tourism in Mhow, Patalpani, and Kalakund. It’s anticipated that future plans will include a DEMU train from Indore to Patalpani, improving connectivity and making this scenic journey even more accessible.
