The new patient is a UK returnee, aged 18, who came to India last December and was quarantined at her home. After testing positive for Covid-19, the sample was further sent to Delhi for genome sequencing, where it was revealed that it was a case of the new mutant strain. Taking quick cognizance of the situation, she was immediately shifted to the hospital. To cripple the chances of infection, samples of the other three members of her family were also taken but the reports were found to be negative.
