Active COVID cases in Rajasthan cross 2,200 mark; 343 new infections in the last 24 hours
Rajasthan witnessed a substantial increase in the number of COVID cases, taking the active case tally to over 2,200. The state registered over 300 cases for two days in a row, with 300 cases being reported on Tuesday and 343 cases on Wednesday. Reportedly, this is the highest single-day spike in over a month.
1,000 tests to be conducted daily
In wake of rising COVID cases, the state Health Ministry has ordered extensive sampling to keep a close check on cases with seasonal diseases as well. The move is aimed at avoiding any such health emergency in the state.
Reportedly, out of 343 cases, Jaipur registered the highest number of cases with 109 fresh infections. Currently, the active COVID cases in Rajasthan are 2,209, out of which Jaipur has 715, Jodhpur has 215, Alwar has 181, and Udaipur has 132, Ajmer has 108 and Dausa has 107 active cases.
As per the notice issued by the state Health Ministry, a total of 1,000 COVID tests will be conducted per day in all the districts. Reportedly, ASHA, ANM and other field staff will initiate door-to-door sampling.
Booster dose to be prioritised in the state
As per the CoWIN dashboard, a total of 42,28,386 people have been administered the precautionary dose. However, a sizeable eligible population has not received the precautionary dose. To attain 100% vaccine coverage, the state health department also plans to launch special campaigns to make people aware of the booster dose and its reliability.
With new infections, the state's cumulative positive case tally now stands at 12,94,875. It is time to take appropriate precautions as COVID cases have started to rise across the country. State government, medical staff, frontline workers and others are taking various measures to control the spread, however, it is our responsibility too to join in the forces in order to keep ourselves safe.
