Jaipur Airport's Terminal 1 to light up this Diwali after a gap of 10 years!
After what feels like forever, and rightly so, Terminal 1 on Jaipur Airport (JA) is likely to start functioning after 10 years of shutdown. Marking the festival of lights & happiness in style, the quintessential JA will finally switch on the lights of the Terminal 1 building, making it a happy Diwali for all. Notably, the hustling-bustling airport was shut down in 2012 by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) citing renovations. The work, which was moving at a snail’s speed, stopped altogether due to the outbreak of the deadly COVID-19.
The end of the endless wait
Talking about the master plan for the airport, the officials notified that at first, only one or two domestic flights will operate before operations are scaled up in a phased manner. The official also added that Terminal-1 will initially operate domestic flights.
To facilitate the rush of passengers, extra check-in counters will also be set-up. From beautification of the airport, to setting up covetable retail shops, the authorities are leaving no stone unturned in making terminal 1’s return worth the wait.
As per the reports, most of the major renovation work is compelete, however, some basic things are being fixed to make Terminal-1 operational for public use. Additionally, a parking lot is also being constructed on a 3-acre plot as vehicular load is likely to increase in future.
