Bhawna Jat's journey began in the hamlet of Kabra, Rajasthan, where she championed against all odds to reach where she is today. She made headlines in February 2020 for setting the then national record at the National Open Race Walking Championships, held in Ranchi. She qualified for Tokyo Olympics by completing the event in 1 hour 29 minutes and 34 seconds, which is well within the qualifying mark of 1 hour 31 minutes.

Her dedication surpassed the mental anguish she faced due to the fellow villagers remarking on her practice hours and clothes. Support from her family, especially her athlete brother- Prakash Jat, has resulted in the remarkable achievements that dot her career timeline so far. An extremely focused sportsperson, she made it as an Olympic participant within 9 years since she began her journey.

Nothing succeeds like success!

Bhawna Jat had to leave college due to financial issues, however, a reward for her accomplishments came in the form of employment by the Railways. Further, the recognition that her latest achievement has brought, has helped in changing the mindset of the people of her village. Now, she is being approached by many who hope to encourage their daughters to make a career in race walking.
