Along with the Delhi-Jaipur route, the upcoming Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is also been considered to be equipped with an electric highway, similar to the one in Sweden. Like electric railways, this new provision will charge buses, cars and other road vehicles on electricity, informed Union Road Transport and Highways Minister.
According to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the e-route connecting Jaipur to Delhi will reduce the commute time between the two cities to approximately two hours. The NHAI also expects the Sohna elevated road, which is presently under construction, and the Sohna-Dausa stretch of Delhi-Mumbai Highway to be completed by March next year to facilitate wireless commute.
As per reports, the Union Ministry is already in talks with a Swedish firm to harness the development in the country. The department has also urged foreign investments to progress civil work at 22 green expressways, 7 of which will be launched soon.
