Over 5.50 lakh houses in Jaipur to face water cuts on February 5
The state Water Health and Engineering Department (PHED) has imposed a phase-wise 24 hours water supply shutdown in Jaipur, starting 4 PM on February 4. Reportedly, the resource cut has been placed in wake of the ongoing annual maintenance and repair work of the Bisalpur project. As per officials of the PHED, this move will impact around 5.50 lakh households in the city, that will face water cuts, throughout the day on February 5. Regular water supply shall be resumed on February 6.

Reportedly, annual maintenance and repair work of the Bisalpur Jaipur Drinking Water Project is done to maintain an uninterrupted drinking water system in Jaipur for the upcoming summer season. As such, all repair work related to the pump house, air valve, pipeline built in place under the Bisalpur project will be conducted during this thorough maintenance drive.
In wake of the same, all pumping stations under the Bisalpur system will remain closed for the next 24 hours, blocking the distribution of drinking water in Jaipur completely.

Besides Jaipur, all Rajasthan townships that are linked to the Bisalpur Project will face similar water shutdowns. However, the Jaipur city drinking water and Pratap Nagar Feeder will function as usual during the shutdown to ensure that people are not inconvenienced. It may be noted that the areas which receive water from alternative sources, such as tube wells, will not face any water cuts or blockages.
