Rajasthan Tourism to refurbish the Palace on Wheels; Check other luxury trains in India here

Lavish interiors, fine-dine restaurants, high-end private lounges along with attached washrooms and chic presidential suites. All these, equipped inside railway coaches can give any signature five-star hotel a run for its money.

This luxury train service was halted back in the year 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And now the state tourism department has decided to revamp the running and the marketing strategy of the train before it hits the tracks. Additionally, the train will also be refurbished to be equipped with the best of facilities.

The iconic Palace on Wheels transversed through some of the most culturally popular cities including Jaipur, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Bharatpur, Jodhpur and Agra. Reportedly, Palace on Wheels is expected to resume service in October this year.

Started back in the year 2010 by IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation), the train has already received the title of 'World's Leading Luxury Train' 6 times in a row. The princely train runs between Delhi to Trivandrum and offers a variety of itinerary packages to choose from.

Equipped with aesthetic interiors, an Ayurvedic spa centre and fine-dine restaurants, the train was started by the initiative of the Karnataka State Tourism Board back in the year 2008. The train offers 3 types of tastefully crafted itineraries, which cover the major natural and cultural heritage sites of Southern India.
