Amidst the ongoing challenge of deteriorating air quality, particularly in urban regions, IIT Kanpur has taken proactive measures by introducing a groundbreaking innovation to address AQI concerns.

A startup incubated at SIIC IIT Kanpur has developed a cost-effective device designed to monitor PM 2.5 levels in ambient air. Developed by Airshed Planning Professionals with guidance from the Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC), this device is poised to soon hit the market, offering a promising solution to combat air pollution.

IIT Kanpur's another significant move for improving air quality

This device can assess various air parameters like respirable air quality, monitor ambient air, and quantify air pollutants. It can also estimate different microbial colonies in the air, helping reduce airborne infections.

Prior to this development, IIT Kanpur has been actively involved in various initiatives to combat pollution. One notable innovation is the Hepa Filter, an air purification tool developed by the institute, now available in the market at a highly affordable price, enabling home air purification.

Reportedly, this new air sampling device will also be launched in the market at an accessible price point. Its availability will empower communities to monitor air quality and take proactive steps towards improvement.
