Green Park Stadium in Kanpur to soon get a visitors' gallery!

The gallery will host a string of memorable tokens like newspaper cuttings, trophies, cricket kits amongst other things.

Famed as one of the most prestigious sports grounds in Uttar Pradesh, Kanpur's Green Park Stadium has witnessed a string of interesting cricket tournaments. Now, this centre is all set for an upgrade with the proposed establishment of a visitors' gallery and the pavilion project at the Old Directors pavilion. As per reports, Smart City Ltd has already approved this scheme and it is estimated that a sum of ₹5 crores will be used for setting up the visitors' gallery.

Stadium to host India-New Zealand test match in November

Notably, an international cricket match will be organised at the Green Park Stadium after 5 years. As per BCCI's schedule, teams from India and New Zealand will be meeting for a test match at this ground, slated to be held from November 25 to November 29. Keeping this and other upcoming matches in view, Smart City Ltd has moved further with the project. Besides the aforesaid additions, the stadium will also get a lift at the press/media pavilion.

HBTU to lend technical assistance for this project

Reportedly, Divisional Commissioner Raj Shekhar toured the site on Tuesday. In addition to this, a team of authorities from HBTU, the Municipal Commissioner, Deputy Director of Sports, UPCA representatives and officials of the Smart City also visited the stadium complex.

As per reports, HBTU has been roped in to offer technical aid for this scheme. Further, reports state that the work related to the visitors' gallery is expected to be complete in the next 4-5 months. Earlier, It was reported that the gallery would host an array of memorable tokens like newspaper cuttings, trophies, cricket kits amongst other things.
