The Kanpur Smart City has won the first-ever Smart Cities India Award in the category of Best Heritage and Preservation. The award honours the project's effective preservation of Kanpur's famous Green Park Stadium, a cricket classic. The 9th Smart City India Expo in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, hosted the award ceremony.

Self-Sustaining Tourist Gallery and Interactive Museum

A self-sustaining tourist gallery has been constructed at Green Park as part of the Smart City plan, drawing in over 50,000 people annually. This gallery provides an engaging look into the history of cricket nationwide as well as locally and state-wide. In addition to the gallery, Green Park has a cricket museum with a large collection of cricket memorabilia and interactive features including a cricket simulator and an audio-visual area.

The CEO of the Smart City project, Shivsharanappa GN, and Kanpur Municipal Commissioner received the Smart Cities India Award, which recognises the city's dedication to heritage preservation. Other notable recipients of the award include the Chairman and Managing Director of the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), as well as representatives from the Russian government and Exhibitions India Group.
