As per reports, the body of India's latest metro fleet will be built using stainless steel. The air-conditioned coaches will be equipped with automatic sliding doors as well. Additionally, apart from comfortable seating areas and standing spaces, dedicated areas for entry of wheelchair-bound specially-abled commuters will also be included in these cars.
Parallelly, these cars will provide for an accessible and enhanced passenger experience with modern passenger information systems. As per the claims of Alain, MD of Alstom, their MOVIA metros are famed for functional reliability, aerodynamic modular design and strengthened safety features.
Urban mobility to be transformed in Agra & Kanpur
In a bid to comply with the highest environmental standards, the trains will be equipped with FLEXX metro bogies and MITRAC propulsion system, reportedly. Consequently, this will result in increased energy efficiency thereby reducing the operating costs. As per reports, each train will accommodate around 960 passengers in the three-car layout. With the timely delivery of this prototype car, this project is expected to complete soon, thereby remodeling the face of urban mobility in Agra and Kanpur.
While addressing the launch event virtually, the CM informed that there are plans to set up similar metro facilities in Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Jhansi and Meerut in near future.
