Kanpur Municipal Corporation conducts a drainage cleaning drive in the city
In an attempt to ensure a clean drainage network across the city, Kanpur Municipal Corporation has embarked upon a cleaning drive at present. This move is aimed at the mitigating the risk of waterlogging in the city ahead of the upcoming monsoons. While some drains have already been cleaned in the city, the remaining are to be cleaned before June 15.
Cleanliness drive for cleaner Kanpur
District Commissioner Shivasharannappa GN has directed all the zonal sanitary officers to ensure proper sewage cleaning in Kanpur before the deadline. Drains under the district health department are being cleaned on a priority basis. Reportedly, sanitary workers are being outsourced to take up this drainage cleaning drive during the day.
The areas that are prone to getting waterlogged during monsoon will be demarcated separately. Special emphasis will be given to such areas to devise a proper solution for this problem.
The civic body has been ordered to carry out this drainage cleaning drive across the city at a fast pace to meet the target before the deadline. KMC will prepare a digital diary to maintain the records of this drainage cleaning drive in the city.
Punitive actions against slow performers

Moreover, if any area gets waterlogged during the upcoming monsoon, strict action will be taken against the officer-in-charge.
