Kanpur's ambitious outer ring road project picks pace; NHAI makes comprehensive plan
The National Highways Authority of India's (NHAI) initiative to advance the Kanpur ring road is presently gaining momentum. The authority has commenced all the necessary documentation proceedings and is now awaiting approval from various governmental departments.
The NHAI's Kanpur Outer Ring Road project is a highly ambitious endeavour aimed at alleviating traffic congestion in the city and facilitating the development of new areas. The road will span a length of 93.20 km and traverse through the districts of Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat and Unnao. In addition, the work has been divided into four phases to streamline the construction process.
Construction work set to commence from June onwards
For the commencement of the development of this project, an expanse of five hectares of land needs to be acquired, which includes forested regions. Additionally, the construction work will encounter obstructions at 30 locations due to high-tension electricity wires.
In this regard, the NHAI has corresponded with the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation and district administration to facilitate the necessary procedures of forest cutting and wire removal.
The first phase of development for the ring road spans from Mandhana to Sachendi, covering a distance of 23.325 km. For this, the contractor has already been finalized and the work is to kick off in June, this year.
