'Tika Utsav' across 8,000 centres in Uttar Pradesh to assure COVID-19 vaccination for all

After the Prime Minister asked all states to amp up their COVID inoculation drives through a 'Tika Utsav', the state government in Uttar Pradesh quickly made announcements regarding it. Scheduled from April 11 to 14, 'Tika Utsav' shall be witnessed across 8,000 immunisation sites in the state. In addition to this, the inoculation drives for the offices shall start soon, as informed by the Additional Chief Secretary, Amit Mohan Prasad.

This vaccination festival shall begin on the birth anniversary of Jyotiba Phule and end on the birth anniversary of Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar. In order to ensure that the drive is conducted successfully, training programs shall be organised on Saturday. For this purpose, the community health centres shall not be involved in the process of inoculation on Saturday. It will only take place at the district hospitals and medical colleges.

Reportedly, the Chief Minister asserted that the state has set an example with its proactive approach for tackling the COVID crisis. Currently, the state has 125 government and 104 private COVID diagnostic centres, as stated by reports.

While the state of Uttar Pradesh is affected severely by the second wave of the coronavirus, it has ensured amplified vaccination coverage with its targeted approach. With focused drives and extended schedules, the state has witnessed the administration of more than 80 lakh vaccine jabs.
