With a new terminal, Kanpur Airport to fly airplanes on new routes soon
With the inauguration of a new terminal at Kanpur Airport on May 26, it is a given that air connectivity of the city will gradually increase. In the near future, Kanpur will have smooth flights on new routes to cities such as Delhi, Aligarh, Moradabad, Pantnagar and Shravasti.
Currently, Uttar Pradesh is home to 11 airports and the government plans to open 11 more airports in next three years, said officials at the inauguration of a new terminal in Kanpur.
Uttar Pradesh‘s future plan to increase air travel
Uttar Pradesh has witnessed a 145% growth in terms of airplane arrivals in last nine years. According to the stats, in 2013-14, UP had 652 airplane arriving per week. The number has gone upto 1,595 airplanes in a week, at present.
In the next phase of development, Saharanpur, Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Ghazipur, Moradabad, Aligarh, Shravasti and Ayodhya will get new airport facilities, said authorities. Additionally, they have a vision to add 122 more routes to the air map improving inter-state connectivity.
