905 banks across Lucknow to accept ₹2000 currency notes from May 23 till Sep 30

Taking cognizance of the recent notification by the Government of India, almost 905 bank branches across Lucknow and 12,000 in Uttar Pradesh have made arrangements for depositing and exchanging ₹2,000 currency notes from today, May 23. 

As per officials, these notes can be exchanged from May 23 till September 30 at all banks and regional offices of the Reserve Bank of India with an updated KYC. Meanwhile, they will continue to function as legal tender.

Extra counters at banks for hassle-free experience

Making the process hassle-free for citizens, extra counters will be assembled if the number of customers increases along with additional police help. As much as ₹90 crores was collected by banks and Cash Deposit Machines (CDM) through ₹2000 notes on May 22. A person can deposit upto ₹49,900 at almost 128 CDMs in Lucknow.

Authorities have requested the general public to avoid submitting counterfeit notes as a FIR will be lodged against all defaulters.
