The higher educational institution in the state is all set to re-open after a pause of eight long months, due to the pandemic. To facilitate this resumption with preparedness, an order was directed to all the District Magistrates and Registrars of universities asking the higher educational institutions to resume classes in a phased manner to avoid crowding on campuses. The state government also has issued thorough guidelines for the physical reopening of these educational institutions.

According to the directive, all the higher institutes will have to make provision for thermal scanning and hand washbasins for both students and staff. Students, teachers and staff who are living in the containment zones will not be allowed to enter the institutions. All the students who will attend colleges and universities will not be allowed to share books, notes, and laptops as well. The higher educational institutions will reopen with 50 per cent attendance of students and in shifts.

Besides these, the vice-chancellors and principals of the colleges and universities have been asked to lay down the Standard Operating Procedures for their respective institutes based on the impact of the virus spread. The state has also suggested that all these institutes can join hands with nearby hospitals, NGOs working in the health sector to fight against the virus.
