In order to aid students in managing stress and anxiety, the faculty of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow has restructured ‘The Wisdom of Indian Philosophy’ course.

The 15-hour-long elective course is being taught at IIM Lucknow as a part of the core MBA programme and the Noida campus for the Working Executives MBA programme. Created by Dr Anadi Saran Pande, professor of Strategic Management at IIM Lucknow, the course includes tenets of fields like metaphysics, epistemology, psychology, ethics, life sciences, aesthetics, sociology, and more.

Drawing inspiration from Indian Philosophy

While it is taught in English, the course is based on Indian philosophy, derived from Samkhya Karika, Patanjali Yoga Sutras and Upanishads with references from Bhagavad Gita. The course will incorporate three major systems — Samkhya, Yoga and Vedanta.

It aims at enhancing students' focus and improve their quality of mind, besides teaching them ethics and promoting organisational well-being. A significant part of the teachings is the 'Theory of Karma'. 'The Wisdom of Indian Philosophy' course was also awarded the ‘Best Non-Conventional Course’ by MBA students of IIM Lucknow in this year.
