CYTRAIN training to help UP cops tighten grip on cyber criminals

In a bid to combat the rising incidents of cybercrime and enable the Uttar Pradesh police force to effectively monitor and respond to such cases, the state government will now implement a specialized cyber training program, CYTRAIN for police personnel. With this, the course will also lay special emphasis on training the personnel on how to tackle cases registered at Cyber Crime Prevention against Women & Children (CCPWC) portal.

In the past few years, there has been a surge in various forms of cybercrime, including cyberbullying, phishing, malware dissemination, cyber stalking, cyber fraud and identity theft due to the widespread access and easy availability of the internet. Thus, the UP government is now working on floating the training course.

The state's police personnel require modern technical skills, along with adequate infrastructure and logistics, to effectively combat cybercrime. In this regard, the state government has established cybercrime stations at the zone level and set up women cyber help desks at regional police stations.

A 24x7 Cyber Helpline i.e. dial 1930 is available and the Cyber Safe portal has been effective in taking action against cybercrime.
