The 9th edition of the much-anticipated FIFA Women's World Cup is almost here and ahead of it, India has a piece of good news to disseminate. The major public sports broadcaster, DD Sports, has secured the television broadcast rights for FIFA Women's World Cup 2023.

In a milestone for the Doordarshan arm, DD Sports will be teaming up with 1Stadia to televise the esteemed tournament and share bliss among fans. All set to kick off in Australia and New Zealand on July 20 (Thursday), this will be the first world cup edition to be hosted by two countries.

Since Doordarshan Sports is readily available and a free-to-air platform, football enthusiasts of all households will be able to catch the tournament seamlessly. The channel reaches some 38 countries across the globe through the INSAT-4B satellite.

With 32 teams competing in the showpiece international event, this year's game is being touted as one of the biggest till date. Herein, 64 electrifying matches will be spread across 10 different venues, with New Zealand vs Norway as the first of the lot.

While the two-time defending champions US Women’s National Team will be aiming at snagging their third straight victory, the other top teams are Germany, Sweden, England and France.
