Mughlai food fans are frequent visitors of the glorious and culturally-rich Old Lucknow for a good reason, really! From Biryani to kebabs, there's a place reserved for every kind of non-veg delicacy. Similarly, when it comes to fish, how about one of the oldest fish shops of Lucknow?

Hidden in the embrace of Charbagh is Chatpati Fish House! This 72-year-old gem is named with respect among food connoisseurs in the city even today. And although there’s nothing special about its ambience, the moment you step in, you're entranced by the aroma of spices and simmering curries filling the air!

Classic food choices & a fulfilling dining experience: Chatpati Fish House

A small set-up, this restaurant is an old-school place with not much to offer along the lines of aestheticism, but makes a strong stand when it comes to food. For the place almost transports diners to an era golden — with their melt-in-the-mouth Fish Fry, creamy and rich Fish Korma and tangy Fish Tandoori. Sourced fresh and cooked to perfection, the best-seller fish fry rules over all hearts. Pair your fish with delicious biryanis or butter naans and revel in the deliciousness!

But, that's not all!

Chatpati Fish House also doesn't disappoint when it comes to numerous Mughlai food, especially the Chicken/Mutton Biryani here! Pro tip: Don't forget to relish in the wholesome curry (shorba) they provide with the Biryani - it's heavenly!

The owner Raman Deep Singh explained to Knocksense that it is the fourth generation working at the restaurant. "My great grandfather, Sardar Charan Singh, started the place in 1951. All recipes are his and we've proudly continued the legacy. We grind the masalas at home, from scratch, which remain unique to Chatpati Fish House," he shared.

However, keeping everything aside, what we found extraordinary at the restaurant was the constantly economical prices. You can have dinner for 3 people with an order containing a good 2-3 dishes and still get away with a bill less than ₹500! Basically, what we're trying to say is that if you're a fish lover, this place is worth experimenting and will always fit your budget!
