Hola art enthusiasts! Dastkaarii is back in Lucknow with its artsy vibe & hand-crafted products
It's time to summon your inner shopaholics as the annual Dastkaarii is back with its 10th season in Lucknow. The best of home-grown brands offering radiant handcrafted designs from nooks and corners of the country will feature at the lifestyle exhibition in your city this July. And if you wanna add some exquisite pieces to your wardrobe or simply explore some amazing artwork, you better not miss this one!
In times when people are realising the impact of fast fashion and moving towards slow fashion, exhibitions like these come as a breath of fresh air, with eco-friendly local brands and products on display. Promoting sustainability and local artisans once again, Season 10 of Dastkaarii is sure to become a limitless experience.
Paint your heart at the live artisan gallery
Dastkaarii this year will also allow you to bring out the artist in you. At the exhibition, you can carry a piece of cloth or saree to watch the professionals design it with block printing. Not only that, you can also participate in the live painting sessions and learn a thing or two!
Catch the live demonstration of block printing at the exhibition by Rekh, a brand by Urvi Ashok Piramal Group foundation that trains rural women artisans. These block printed products will also be promoted at Dastkaarii.
Try your hand at Calligraphy at Dastkaarii
If you're someone who just cannot stop watching those Calligraphy videos on Instagram, and wanna try your hand at it, Dastkaarii has a little something for you! A Calligraphy workshop will take place on the two days of the event, where you'll get to meet new people and unleash the artist in you.
Tarot card reading on the cards!
An added attraction for you at Dastkaarii this year is the tarot card reading. If you are a believer, approach the tarot card reader for some bang-on predictions of cartomancy and, perhaps, find new meanings to life? Because, why not?
Time for some Nukkad Natak by Meesha's Theatre
There's yet another surprise awaiting you — Dastkaarii is also hosting Nukkad Natak on the second day of the event. Invoke the drama around you (we're kidding, or are we?) and get ready to associate with the oldest form of story-telling as a part of your heritage.
Artists from Lucknow will also, meanwhile, entertain you with live music while you munch away on snacks from the food stalls set up in the premises.
Recuperating India's crafts
"The motive behind Dastkaarii exhibitions is to provide a platform to the artisans and try to connect them to the mainstream. We also try to introduce a variety of small businesses, home-grown labels and women entrepreneurs, from our very own city as well as other states, who are dealing in various creative ventures and start-ups."
From the organiser of Dastkaarii, Richa Gupta
The idea of Dastkaarii is to keep the heritage alive, to recuperate India's culture and art and provide a platform to hard-working craftsmen and artisans. This is a haat where you'd find India's creativity under one roof.
The platform not only empowers women by providing opportunities to them for displaying their art but also supports small businesses.
Now's the perfect chance for you to go vocal for local as home-grown brands are also eco-friendly and sustainable, thereby, helping the environment.
Know your artisans
"With 50+ brands and budding artisans on board there will be a huge array of products to choose from. You can buy the festive essentials in apparels, jewellery, home decor and furnishing, skincare, garden decor, kids’ accessories, party clutches and much more."
Richa Gupta
In this lifestyle and handicrafts exhibition, you will get to choose from a wide range of fabrics by artisans from Kutch in Gujarat, Moonj craft from Prayagraj, sarees from Kota in Rajasthan, work of wooden toys from Banaras and leather puppetry and idol-art from Andhra Pradesh. Fyoli Haat's patch-work and home decor by Uttarakhand's local women artisans with weavers from Taaga India by Swasti are also promoted here.
Skincare enthusiasts can checkout brands like Anubhuti and its range of cruelty-free products that are both good for skin and the environment. And if you are fond of Ajrakh printed sarees, Ajrakh by Yasin Khatri is what you need to checkout for sarees and fabrics, that will make you stand out from the crowd.
For home decor, you can also explore a number of brands like Dastgiri by Classy Creation, Silai Machine or gardening essentials by Gardner's Gadget and Flourishing Gallery.
"This is the 10th edition of Dastakaarii and it promises to be the best till now!" assures Richa.
If you're an art enthusiast that likes to see India's rich cultural arts get preserved, here's your chance to be the part of the movement!
This is not just a chance to support local artisans, and in turn slow fashion, but to also garner some chic products for embellishing your wardrobe and homes.
