Knocksense Shorts | City of Ayodhya receives a 40-ft veena; installation due soon

Ayodhya will soon boast a splendid looking veena, which will be erected at the Lata Mangeshkar crossing of the city. The veena will be installed in honour of the late singer and Bharat Ratna awardee, Lata Mangeshkar, who was also popular as the 'Nightingale of India'. The veena was transported to the city on a trailer-truck from Noida on September 15.

The structure weighs around 14 tons and has been designed by the Noida-based sculptor, Ram Vanji Sutar, who is also credited for designing the Statue of Unity. The veena will be installed at the newly renamed Lata Mangeshkar Smriti Chowk. Work towards the beautification of the crossing has already begun in full swing.

Reportedly, the crossing will be inaugurated during the Deepotsav, which is celebrated in Ayodhya on Diwali eve.
