Knocksense Shorts | Owners must obtain pet licenses by April 30 to avoid heavy fines, says LMC
Pet owners, listen up! As per an important notification by the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC), you must obtain licenses for pet dogs and cows by April 30. Post the deadline, fines will be imposed on those who fail to abide.
Whether you need to obtain a new license or renew an existing one, the fee is set at ₹1,000 per dog and ₹500 for a cow. It is mandatory to make the payment by the end of the month or a fine of ₹500 will be levied in the month of May. If the fine isn't paid, an additional fee of ₹50 will be charged per day, retrospectively from April 1. Further, arbitrary checks will be conducted from this current month, to ensure that every pet owner has a valid license.
The process, overseen by the LMC, requires an individual to visit the LMC Head Office along with documents, including a sterilisation certificate and the pet's vaccination card, issued by a veterinary doctor.
According to stats, the city currently is home to 5,500 registered dogs. Howvever, records show that there are more than 8,000 dog owners in Lucknow.
