The Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scan facility has finally commenced at King George Medical University (KGMU). The facility was under construction in the nuclear medicine department of KGMU Lucknow since November 2022.

The new facility will be highly effective in detecting the spread of infected tissues among cancer patients. Additionally, the procedure at the government-run hospital will cost significantly less (around 10,000) compared to private medical facilities.

The PET scan is a type of imaging technology that uses radioactive tracers to show how organs and tissues are functioning in real-time. This will effectively aid in diagnosing the spread of cancer among patients, thereby resulting in timely treatment of the infection.
