As per reports, the LSG had initially reached out to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to sign Taskin Ahmed for the season. However, he was denied the No Objection Certificate (NOC) by the board given Bangladesh's hectic schedule. They then signed Australian Andrew Tye, who has a total of 47 international wickets to his credits, in just 32 T20Is. Additionally, this veteran Aussie player has played 27 IPL matches in which he bagged 40 wickets so far.

Recently, the Lucknow Super Giants officials also signed Zimbabwean pacer, Blessing Muzarabani as a net bowler. However, it was also anticipated, that Muzarabani will be replacing Mark Wood. Though, with the signing of Andrew Tye, the chances of Muzarabani replacing Mark Wood have been eliminated.

The right-arm Aussie pacer is especially known for his slow deliveries and yorkers. Potentially lethal against most of the batters, and backing up the team defence as a recognised bowling specialist, Tye will be replacing the 32-year old Mark Wood in Lucknow Super Giants. He will be accompanied by the last IPL season's second-highest wicket-taker Avesh Khan, Sri Lankan spearhead Dushmantha Chameera and Kanpur's Ankit Rajpoot who are already a part of the LSG playing squad.
