Lucknow gears up for Swachh Bharat Survey; LMC plans extensive cleanliness drives across the city
The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) is now focused on enhancing the city's ranking in the upcoming annual Swachh Bharat survey. To achieve this, the civic body has launched a comprehensive plan to improve city hygiene, upgrade the garbage disposal system, and eliminate illegal encroachments.
Several cleanliness initiatives are already in motion, with LMC Municipal Commissioner Inderjit Singh and other officials actively surveying localities to identify areas requiring immediate attention.
Fogging drives, improved drainage system & more
Following the inspection, several key directives were issued to address identified concerns:
Officials have been tasked to remove illegal hoardings, promotional materials and unauthorized structures like stalls from public spaces.
Areas such as 1090 Crossing, Arjun Ganj, Shaheed Path, Ansal, 5 Kalidas Road, and Airport Road require will be checked and illegal roadside hoardings will be removed, cleanliness will be enhanced and proper drainage system will be ensured.
Regular cleaning of roads, public toilets, and drainage systems is to be ensured across the city.
Cleanliness workers are mandated to wear uniforms, officials have been directed to ensure 100% attendance and timely updates of staff information on the e-pay portal.
Fogging operations will be conducted to prevent the spread of diseases in various areas.
Hazardous trees near power lines and transformers are to be removed, along with illegal posters and audio materials from overbridges.
In an effort to provide rapid resolution for public complaints, the commissioner has emphasised better response by the dept. for IGRS complaints through random checks and follow-ups.
