The Governing Council of the Indian Premier League had rolled out tenders for the ownership of new teams and the bids are open till October 5. With its latest decision, BCCI has transformed IPL into a 10-team event. Purportedly, BCCI is interested to capitalise the city of Lucknow as not only a new IPL destination but also as a major cricket centre.

Reportedly, an official informed that Lucknow is being preferred due to the presence of a stadium with state-of-art-facility. Notably, the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium, popularly known as Ekana Stadium has been successful in garnering significant attention from across the country, in a short period of time. Besides, Lucknow is all set to host a test match for the first time in over 28 years, with the arrival of the New Zealand team in India after the T20 World Cup in UAE in November.
