The Department of Radiology at KGMU Lucknow has received international acclaim for its in-house development of an AI-powered radiotherapy machine.

Engineered by Dr. Shriram Rajurkar, a PhD scholar at KGMU, this breakthrough innovation has gained immense trust and is being said to revolutionize cancer treatment. The department's success was recognized when it received the esteemed AOCMP-CCOMP Travel Award at the Asia-Oceania Congress of Medical Physics (AOCMP) in Penang, Malaysia. Dr. Rajurkar was the only Indian to be honoured with this award.

This state-of-the-art device, driven by advanced artificial intelligence algorithms, delivers precise radiation treatment to cancer patients, significantly reducing the impact on surrounding organs, particularly the lungs, and minimizing side effects. Recently introduced for breast cancer treatment, the machine has shown promising results in early trials, providing effective care with enhanced precision.
