Lucknow News | LMC adds shelter homes, drinking water facilities to provide relief from heatwave

Lucknow and nearby regions of UP are currently experiencing an intense heatwave, accompanied by unprecedented humidity, which is unusual for non-monsoon months. With scarce rainfall, scorching daytime temperatures, and no signs of wind during late hours, the LMC has taken initiatives to provide relief for the residents.

As part of the measures, the civic authority has established specialized shelter homes for the destitute to seek refuge. A total of 23 such shelters, furnished with air coolers and water supply, are being set up across Lucknow. Currently, two shelter homes, located at Qaiserbagh and Pal Polytechnic, Chowk, are operational.

Additionally, drinking water facilities have been established under dedicated tents at all eight zonal offices of LMC, offering cool drinking water for residents.

Lucknow Municipal Commissioner, Indrajit Singh has urged religious bodies within the city to also install drinking water facilities to support residents.
