The Indian Railways is set to upgrade the Lucknow-Raipur Garib Rath Express (12635/12536) with modern LHB (Linke-Hofmann-Busch) coaches, enhancing both passenger comfort and safety. As part of this initiative, the number of coaches will also increase from 14 to 20.

The traditional ICF (Integral Coach Factory) carriages, in use since 1955, are gradually being replaced across the country. The LHB coaches, introduced in 2000, offer superior safety features and better amenities. Recognizing these advantages, the Ministry of Railways is accelerating the transition to LHB coaches across several trains. Apart from the Lucknow-Raipur Garib Rath, six other trains running from Pune are also slated to receive these modern upgrades.

The Linke-Hofmann-Busch coaches, developed in Germany and now produced in India, were introduced by Indian Railways in 2000, initially in Shatabdi Express trains. Known for better safety and comfort, they are gradually replacing older ICF coaches.
