In wake of continuous case rise in Lucknow, the state government has passed an order that authorises only 50% of the public and private sector staff to work from offices, till April 30. The other half will be required to work from home in order to stagger crowds and break the chain of infection.

Besides Lucknow, offices in Varanasi, Prayagraj and Kanpur also need to adhere to this instruction. All offices here will also be required to set up COVID-19 help desks for the benefit of the people, as per state orders.

Experts have highlighted that multiple cases, ranging from serious to critical, are under active treatment and the casualty rate may further surge in the coming days. They also have projected the possibility of 5,000 cases daily by next week, which would further add pressure on the healthcare system here. Meanwhile, UP's Chief Minister on Friday instructed the concerned officials to ramp up testing in Lucknow while encouraging people to take part in the 'Tika Utsav', to be held from April 11 to April 14.
