The University of Lucknow has released a dedicated QR code in order to help students cope with mental agony and issues they are facing. This comes after a 3rd year Bachelors student of LU's College of Arts and Crafts died by suicide in her hostel room. The unfortunate incident took place some ten days ago at Tilak Hostel.

"Students of Lucknow University will be able to easily inform the administration about their problems by scanning the QR code," LU shared on X. This will further connect students to the 'Happy Thinking Lab' and 'Counselling Cell' of the university.

More about the initiative

These aim at aiding students who require guidance and/or help in both personal and career-related issues.

LU's student-friendly 'Happy Thinking Laboratory' functions with the vision, "To empower the thoughts of youth to understand indigenous notion of happiness... to build a world of peace, love and universal harmony by connecting science with spirituality."

Anyone interested in sharing can scan the QR code, which will be placed at numerous places at the university premises, and express their problem. Based on the kind of problem, the student will further be redirected to a mental health expert at a preliminary level, with allotted time for consultation.
