New train service between Lucknow-Varanasi to ease travel during festive season
The Railways on Thursday green flagged a special train from Varanasi to Lucknow, to ferry the rising load of passengers due to the festive season. Though this is an intercity-conventional coach train, it will ply at the speed of an express train to cover the distance between Lucknow and Varanasi in approximately 4 hours. Reportedly, this train will run in place of the passenger-popular Varuna Express.

A new train between Lucknow and Varanasi is now operational to cater to the increasing demands of rail passengers in the festive season. As informed by SK Sapra, DRM Lucknow, the service will play every day between the two cities, as a quick mode of travel. He also elaborated on the timings and the route of the special train, highlighting its schedule that is suitable for daily as well as other travellers.
The Varanasi-Lucknow shuttle train will depart at 6 AM from the Varanasi to reach Lucknow at 10:10 AM in Lucknow, making stops at Jaunpur, Sultanpur and Nihalgarh. The return journey will start on the same day from Charbhagh in Lucknow at 6 PM, via the same route, to reach Varanasi at 10:10 PM in just 4 hours and 10 minutes. Presently, the fastest train on this route is the Dibrugarh New Delhi Rajadhani Express covers the distance between the said cities in just 4 hours and 5 minutes.
As per reports, the intercity train will link the coaches of the Varuna Express and will also consist of an AC chair car coach and Second class seating. However, unlike the Varuna Express, the train will not halt at the Shri Krishnanagar read reports.
