The district administration razed Lucknow's iconic Phool Mandi to the ground on Thursday, July 25. Notably, the administration had issued a notice to the merchants and the Hussainabad Trust on June 26, asking them to vacate the property.

When a significant number of merchants did not move to the allotted land in Gomti Nagar, the administration decided to demolish the market. After the demolition, over 100 flower merchants have been relocated to Kisan Bazaar in Vibhuti Khand.

Notably, the Phool Mandi in Chowk was established way back in 1775 under the rule of Nawab Asif-ud-daula to boost flower trade.
