As a measure to prevent the spread of infections among the patients, Lucknow's Lok Bandhu Hospital in the LDA Colony area has now introduced of antimicrobial bed sheets.

Currently, a trial is underway in the special newborn care units (SNCU) where these bed sheets are being utilized. The trial involves the utilization of 20 bed sheets, and each individual sheet has a durability of up to 30 washes.

Yet another move towards improving the quality of public healthcare facilities

The antimicrobial bedsheets are manufactured with a built-in antimicrobial solution that is integrated into the fabric. This treatment works as an inherent layer of product protection against the bacterial and fungal growth, thus preventing cross-infections in and around the patients.

Reportedly, the trial period for the utilization of these sheets is expected to last between 2 to 3 months. In the event of a successful trial outcome, the specialized sheets will be made mandatory for implementation across all wards of the hospital.

The implementation of this initiative represents another significant stride towards enhancing the quality of public healthcare facilities in Lucknow. This further paves the way for the potential adoption of similar measures in other government hospitals within the city.
