Mask Up, Lucknow! Active COVID-19 cases cross 1000 mark

About 138 of the 450 fresh COVID cases found in UP on Monday, were in Lucknow

Lucknow, on Monday, recorded as many as 138 fresh COVID-19 cases, tipping the tally of active cases over the 1000 mark, the highest in four months. In figures, the count is up to 1,025 patients. Of the new Monday case load, only 25 have been admitted in hospitals for clinical aid, while the remaining are being monitored in home isolation.

Alambagh, Aliganj report highest cases in Lucknow 

Locales such as Alambagh, with 32 new cases and Aliganj with 18 cases, have been identified to be the biggest contributors of new and active cases in the last 24 hours. Following these two areas closely is Chinhat, with 17 new cases and Sarojini Nagar with 14 cases, and 11 fresh infections in Old City. On the other hand, recovery count for the day was limited to 64 patients, with no record of fatalities.

In wake of these trends, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath instructed officials to increase testing and tracing and treatment facilities in the capital and other UP districts. Directives to boost the vaccination drive here have also been issued.

3,767 Active cases in Uttar Pradesh 

Besides Lucknow, Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad have been pinned as high active-case spots in Uttar Pradesh, nursing a total of 3,767 patients.

The Omicron spike has also raised concerns here, however, officials ensure that there is no need to panic just now. The public is advised to adhere to all prevention protocols, wear masks and maintain social distances in crowded areas.

Those in the vulnerable categories, such as children, elderly, and those with comorbid or chronic conditions, pregnant woman and the immunocompromised are advised to practice extra caution.
