The railway authorities are now working on the yard remodelling at the Malhour railway station of Lucknow. Due to this, the Daliganj-Badshahnagar-Gomti Nagar-Malhaur railway route is under a non-interlocking work period.

Pertaining to the same, the North Easter Railways (NER) has released an official circular stating that as many as 41 trains operating under the Lucknow division will remain cancelled until March 3.

More about the notification

Throughout this duration, certain trains will be cancelled entirely, while others will be cancelled on particular days. Additionally, 25 other services will be diverted, and some trains will be rescheduled.

Some of the important trains namely, Lucknow-Patliputra Express, Delhi-Azamgarh Express are Lucknow-Gorakhpur Express are among the ones which have been cancelled during the duration.

What are non-interlocking works?

The interlocking of signals is essential for directing trains to desired tracks. These systems are quite necessary when more and more trains are required to be moved over the tracks in stations and yards. This became necessary to avoid human error.

In due course when any changes or alterations are to be carried out at any interlocked station/yard/ section, the existing interlocking is disconnected for its modification. When the existing interlocking is disturbed or disconnected for a particular time duration, the period is termed as the Non-Interlocking Work period.
