New 'Mango Park' to come up in Lucknow; know features!
Lucknow, a city surrounded by regions renowned for mango production, is now set to enhance its connection to this beloved fruit. The State Government has announced plans to develop a new 'Mango Park' in the capital. This initiative aims to create a new recreational spot for residents while promoting the diverse mango varieties of Uttar Pradesh.
The Lucknow Municipal Corporation has undertaken the development of this grand project, for which a 15-acre land has been finalised in Kalli West near Kisan Path. Moreover, the first sapling will be planted on August 15, with the state CM in attendance to officially kickstart the initiative.
To encompass a dedicated museum, a pond and a Mango Haat
The main highlight of this park will be the variety of mangoes that'll be available here. LMC intends to plant as many as 2068 mango trees, representing 108 species. Additionally, the park will feature a museum dedicated to mangoes, offering insights into their cultivation, varieties, and important facts about the fruit. Another major attraction will be the 'Mango Haat,' established to promote the sale of mangoes and mango products.
Mango-themed park, with bright yellow swings & mango murals
Apart from featuring various mango varieties, the LMC plans to give the park a comprehensive mango-themed design. This includes mango-shaped lights, vivid yellow swings and structures to delight children, along with tracks and pathways named after mango species, making the park a visual treat for the public.
In addition to the mango trees, the Government will plant 18,828 plants and trees, including other fruit-bearing varieties, to enhance the land's ecological diversity. A spacious pond will also be a part of the park.
