Of fitness & fun: The Centrum hosts 5th edition of a grand 'Federal Bank Lucknow Run' in all glory

In the current culture of marathons and the grandeur they represent, Lucknow has been persevering in the race. With throngs of Lucknowites partaking in the glory yearly, these marathons are a beacon of fitness and strength!

One such glorious event, held on November 5, was the 'Federal Bank Lucknow Run' hosted by The Centrum. Organised at GD Goenka Public School, this was the 5th edition of the annual half marathon which saw the participation of thousands of active runners. Taking place in the lush green surroundings of Sushant Golf City, the IAAF AIMS-certified scenic route of the marathon was chosen carefully, keeping the safety of the participants in mind.

A prosperous lifestyle among all

The 'Federal Bank Lucknow Run' has also been recognised by the ‘World Athletics Association’, further elevating its authenticity and credibility. The marathon, that carried the message of good health and encouraged prosperous lifestyle among people, aimed at promoting the culture of sports in India.

With the participation of some 3,000 people from various backgrounds, including students, Indian Army and more, the event also saw the presence of eminent personalities and various dignitaries, educationalists and school principals to boost the confidence of the runners.

The event had four categories: 21 km, 10 km, 5 km and 3 km, where the 21 km half marathon started at 5:30 am, the 10 km run at 06:00 am and 5 km and 3 km fun runs at 7:00 am. While the 21 km run was flagged off by Gen Mukesh Chadha, Chief of Staff, Central Command, 10 km run by Ritu Suhas IAS, Qasim Abidi IPS and CBSE Sahodaya Team, the 3 and 5 km run were kicked off by Durga Shankar Mishra IAS and Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh.

The man behind ‘Lucknow Run’, Sarvesh Goel (Managing Partner at The Centrum and Chairman of GD Goenka Public School), expressed his gratitude for the event's success and shared his thoughts on taking it to the international level. The winners were awarded trophies, while all participants were given medals and certificates.
