Increased testing has helped the state combat the second swell of the pandemic by getting updated statistics on a daily basis. Further, as of 1 June, the recovery rate of UP has also gone up to approximately 97% and the number of active cases is towards a declining trend with current numbers reported at 32,465.
Measures to combat the third wave
The apex authorities of Uttar Pradesh have stated that special measures have been put in force to combat the predicted third wave of COVID. Since during the third swell, children have higher chances of being affected, the UP government is setting up medical infrastructure with a special focus on pediatric units. Therefore, PICUs will be coming up in all medical colleges across the state.
Under the guidance of Lucknow's SGPGIMS, virtual and physical training programmes for medical staff will be conducted to prepare them beforehand. Moreover, separate provisions at the vaccination centres have been made to inoculate parents of children, who are less than 12 years of age. To increase the efficiency of these arrangements, at least two such centres have been set up in every district of UP.
