Rainfall warning issued to 22 states of India; Lucknow to stay affected till Oct 12
With the arrival of October, various cities, including Lucknow have been witnessing extreme rainfall. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rainfall warning regarding the same. Several cities have come to a standstill owing to rain.
Reportedly, the heavy rainfall is triggered due to the western disturbances (westerlies) which impact the Indian states during the onset of the winter season. Amid the heavy rainfall, the impacted UP cities also experienced a steep fall in the temperature.
IMD's weather report gives insights
Reportedly, IMD issued a report according to which various regions of UP and Uttarakhand will remain impacted by extreme rainfall till October 12. A red alert has been declared in various districts of Uttarakhand including the Kumaon and Garhwal divisions.
On the other hand, most of the cities in UP including Lucknow, may experience heavy/scattered rainfall over the span of three days, which could likely extend till October 12.
Furthermore, IMD has also projected extreme rainfall in various regions of Haryana, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh in the next few days. IMD's updated weather forecast bulletin can be checked from here.
