Remembering seminal physicist CV Raman: LU celebrates National Science Day with various activities
The city's pre-eminent Lucknow University is celebrating National Science Day in all grandeur and vigour. Joining the country's commemoration of the seminal Indian physicist C V Raman on February 28, LU is opening the doors of its rich museums and laboratories to the public till tomorrow.
The university is celebrating a three-day programme with various competitions and activities where students of Lucknow and adjacent districts are slated to participate.
National Science Day is celebrated annually to mark the tremendous contributions of the world-renowned physicist and the discovery of the Raman effect by him. Sir CV Raman was also the recipient of the highest accolade, the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930.
Celebrating National Science Day at LU
The programme includes numerous lecture series revolving around scientific topics, quiz competitions, poster making, skit plays, and so on. Films related to science will also be played on February 28.
Overall, the affair aims at fostering a scientific temperament in the students and inculcate a widespread interest in the subjects. A number of science departments of the college have been aiding in the organisation of the various events for a stimulating and immersive experience.
At the same time, general public has been allowed to visit the campus and explore the labs and museum of LU. "The university opened its laboratories and museum to the students of the surrounding districts," they announced.
