Ushering the 3rd edition of Khelo India University Games, Lucknow is all set to be a splendid host
Lucknow is all set to stage the much-awaited Khelo India University Games (KIUG) 2022, which is turning out to be a humongous platform for up-and-coming, talented athletes.
A multi-sports grand affair, this will be the third season of the Games that will officially commence today. KIUG 2022 will kickstart with the chief guest, Prime Minister of India, inaugurating the 10-day extravaganza.
The 70-minute opening ceremony will be hosted at Lucknow's Babu Banarasi Das University Cricket ground at 6:50 PM, with the backdrop of the Indian Army band playing the National Anthem.

The festivities will include songs, thematic performances, fireworks and lighting of the torch by a celebrated sports personality of UP. The mascot of the Games, Jeetu, inspired by barasingha (state animal), will form an intrinsic part of the ceremony and the Games. Finally, the legendary Kailash Kher will conclude the day with mystical music.
Expecting a turnover of as many as 4,750 participants, the KIUG-2022 will go on till June 3 in cities of Lucknow, Varanasi, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Gorakhpur. Deemed to be a grand sports fest, the Khelo India Univ Games 2022 will see more than 200 varsities competing in 21 sports events sparsed across the stipulated period.
