Uttar Pradesh contributes to create the world's largest face mask made of Khadi

Each state district has contributed 2 meters of khadi cloth to make the 150 square metres large face mask.

The Uttar Pradesh government is planning to create another world record by contributing cloth in the making of the world's largest mask, made of Khadi. This mask, 150 square metres in size a is being created to highlight the importance of a face mask in the global fight against the pandemic of coronavirus. As per reports, the mask will be displayed in many states of the country, however, the dates for the same have not been finalized yet.

In a statement, the Addition Chief Secretary of Khadi and village industries informed that all districts of Uttar Pradesh have provided about 2 metres of cloth, which has been handed over by state authorities to fashion designer Manish Tripathi. Manish, a Delhi based fashion designer, will be making the mask. He has also received cloth for some other Indian states for the same, he further added.

The Chief Secretary highlighted the relevance of masks as a defence against the pandemic and stated the need for masks will not decline even after the COVID-19 vaccine arrives. Therefore, this large face mask is being spun as a statement, which will underline the indispensable importance of masks in preventing the rapid spread of virus infection. He said that this record largest Khadi face mask will be displayed through a hot air balloon in several Indian states. This will assist in spreading awareness about the vitality of a face mask against the coronavirus transmission.

Besides this, the Additional Chief Secretary also announced that Uttar Pradesh will be hosting the Khadi textile exhibition in January 2021. This exposition will display the clothing by notable Indian fashion designers including Reena Dhaka, Ritu Berry and Manish Malhotra, among others.
