Vehicular movement halted on Lucknow-Ayodhya highway till July 26; Check diversion details here
In order to ease the movement of Kavadiyas headed towards Saryu Ghat in Ayodhya, the District Police has issued several diversions along the Lucknow-Ayodhya National Highway, which are to be enforced starting today. Reportedly, the diversion will impact the movement of heavy vehicles only, and will remain in effect till July 26.
Highway closed for vehicular traffic
As per the Ayodhya SP, Vijaypal Singh, the movement of all heavy vehicles, including trucks and loaders will be restricted. Additionally, light vehicles will also be restricted if the Kavadia footfall turns out to be high.
A large number of people are expected to visit Ayodhya on the occasion of Krishna Paksha Trayodashi on the Monsoon Monday, July 25. This has been highlighted as the major reason for the road diversion.
Reportedly, the movement of heavy and light vehicles from the nearby districts including, Gonda, Basti, Balrampur, Ambedkarnagar, Sultanpur, Amethi and Barabanki will also be restricted. As per the reports, all such entry points on the highway will be barricaded and a police guard will be posted at each of the entry points.
Diversions to and from Lucknow
As per the reports, Lucknow-Ayodhya Highway will be reserved for Kavadia movement and only two lanes will be reserved for the Emergency vehicle. More such decisions have been taken up by the police authorities as per the diversion plan:
Vehicles commuting from Barabanki towards Gorakhpur, and Basti via Lucknow will be diverted towards Jarwal road, Karnailganj, Gonda, Utaula, and Dumariyaganj.
Traffic from Gonda towards Balrampur via Ayodhya will be diverted towards Lucknow and Barabanki via Karnailganj, Jarwal road and Ramnagar intersection.
